Tennis monitoring platform

An ESP32-S3 smartwatch was developed to track racket-hand motion, detect tennis strokes, and record scores. Python scripts analyze the collected data and generate a session report.

This project presents a wrist-worn tennis monitoring system based on an ESP32-S3 smartwatch. A QMI8658 inertial sensor measures the motion of the racket hand at approximately 470 samples per second, while an embedded algorithm detects potential ball hits using changes in angular velocity.

The system supports continuous recording and event-based recording, which stores three seconds of motion before and after each detected hit. During play, the user can also record shot outcomes and keep score through the watch interface.

All data are stored on a microSD card and later processed using Python scripts to extract motion features, group strokes into rallies, and generate an HTML report. The resulting prototype provides a complete process from motion sensing and real-time hit detection to structured post-session analysis.
