This project deals with the creation of an automated Hydroponic cell and the integration of a wireless interface for it.
The project deals with the creation of a ‘Hydroponic cell’ – an automated machine that tends to the needs of a plant housed within it in accordance with the methods of Hydroponics and the integration of a wireless user-interface that’s capable of supplying updated information on the machine’s operation and environmental parameters to the user, as well as allowing the user to control the cell.
The importance of such a project lies mainly in that – it allows the transfer of the Hydroponic method from enormous farms to the home of a single client, for personal use in self-sustainable farming or experimentation.
The project is divided into two main parts:
- Hardware – which refers to the cell itself as well as the appliances used to manage the daily routine of the cell, their intended duties in the cell’s daily function, their placement and electrical installation within the cell.
- Software – which refers to the to the control of the cell and the appliances within it, the monitoring of the cell using sensors, the control of other appliances via digital communication as well as the setting up of a HOTSPOT and establishment of an HTML based human interface.
The project report lists all necessary components needed for creation of said cell (both physical and software). It also documents the reasoning behind their choice and instructions for their installation, allowing for the building of the ‘Hydroponic cell’.
