As of today, stray cats struggle to find a reliable source food on the streets. Therefore emerged the idea of providing them a food station which is a simple but meaningful way to make a positive impact on their lives.
Using advanced technology in Software, Hardware & AI algorithms, the system can detect cats in real-time, even in poor lighting conditions
and in different backgrounds. It activates a camera which is connected to a small computer and a motor that is going to, mechanically,
open the door in the presence of cats. It is a prototype made of a simple box made of cardboard, a camera, sensors, a Jetson Nano (the project’s heart)
and a small motor. The system has proven to be successful, functioning for long periods of time.
This is not only a proof of concept, but also a solid foundation for future developments that could improve the lives of countless stray cats in our cities.
The project has already garnered interest from Haifa municipality !
