Kuala project's goal was to build an electronic system which would ensure the possibility of relaying the information gathered by the stones with as little physical presence as possible.
The Kuala project is just one part of a much larger project. The Wisdom Stone project was set in motion several years ago with a set goal to be able to determine the condition of a road without physically being there. The “stone” is basically a few electronically designed boards put together in a plastic encapsulate buried under the road. These boards are designed to measure vibrations which would occur due to passing of vehicles on the road above and to give indications of any changes from the expected norm. The project itself is still in development stages in the High Speed Digital Systems Laboratory as well as in the Civil Engineering faculty.
